Growing for over 40 years
VAPC was founded in 1966. The original Church was erected in 1972. The present Sanctuary was added in 1988. The congregation has grown,
thrived and matured along with Calgary. It now draws members from across the northwest sector of the city.
In early 2010, VAPC grew again in faith and capability. A second floor addition completed the congregation's long-term vision to create
facilities that meet the congregation's needs and also accommodate community uses.
On the main floor, the kitchen, nursery, choir room, and Scott Hall have expanded. The second floor is equipped with meeting and lounge
areas, a library, offices, classrooms along with a kitchenette and washrooms. An elevator makes the second floor accessible to all.
The expansion offers practical benefits to the congregation and the community. Banquet facilities are expanded and improved. The nursery
has been broken into smaller age groupings. In the new Sunday School spaces, animated discussions will not need to be shushed. The youth
room is a great place to hang out.
The new spaces allow concurrent use of the building by various groups. In addition to the usual church-related meetings and music practices, our
rooms are used by ESL classes, book clubs, Alcoholics Anonymous, and TOPS. We are delighted that our Sanctuary is blessed by weekly
worship services of the Ebenezer Korean Presbyterian Church.
