FACILITIES MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The management ofthe VAPC facilities (meaning the use of the church by outside groups) has been supervised by the Board of Managers through its
Property Committee. With the expansion of our building in 2010 and in anticipation of additional requests for space use, it was decided to
establish a separate committee to deal with this part of the work. The new Facilities Management Committee was established by Session on
Sept. 8, 2010. It will continue to work in close conjunction with the Property Committee.
During the year 2010, these groups have been using our building on a regular basis:
- Alcoholics Anonymous - Wed. evening
- ESL New Friends and Neighbours - Tues. morning
- Children's Link - Wed. morning (once/month)
- TOPS AM - Thurs. morning
- TOPS PM - Thurs. evening
- Ebenezer Korean Church - Wed. evening, Fri. evening, Sun. afternoon
- Sentimental Journey Dance Band - Sat. morning
- VRRI Shredders - Thurs. morning
- VRRI Bulletin Folders - Fri. morning
- Little Blossoms Preschool Inc. - Mon. - Fri. mornings
Room assignments and storage provisions for all of the above (as well as our own VAPC groups) are worked
out in consultation with the Church Secretary.
Another part of this committee's mandate is the development of a safety and security plan for the building and those using it. Len Wardle
took on the task of acquiring and installing fIre extinguishers and fIrst-aid kits (and appropriate signage relating to both). He and Joan
Stellmach have worked at regulations for emergency evacuation procedures. Hugh Brown (Property Committee), with some suggestions from FMC,
dealt with the complications regarding our new locks.
The Committee is also responsible for updating the schedule of fees to be charged to each group and for the preparation of a package outlining
user fees and guidelines which can be handed out to any individual or group who has interest in renting some part of our facility.
