This Advent Season we would like your help to build backpacks for Alpha House.

Calgary Alpha House Society is a non-profit, charitable agency that provides safe and caring environments for individuals whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drug dependencies

Alpha House was established in 1981 as a place of safety for men and women struggling with addictions, as well as mental and physical health issues. They operate a Shelter and Detox/Transitional facility, Outreach Programs, including the DOAP Team, Encampment Team, and the Needle Response Team, and Housing Programs with intensive case management support.

The backpacks we build will help someone in need this holiday season. Examples of gifts being collected include toiletries, $10 Tim Horton/McDonald gift cards, flashlights, toques, and backpacks. Take one tag or take a few!

Here are ways to choose a gift:

1.    Click here for a list of items being collected, email Kelly office@vapc.ca or leave a phone message at the Church (403-288-0544) specifying which gifts you would like to purchase and donate. Kelly is in the office Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We can arrange a time for pick-up or drop -off of your gifts

2.    Request a link to visit a shared file with a list of items being collected. You can choose an item yourself (or multiple items) simply by changing the column which reads ‘Available’ to ‘Taken’. If you take an item, please put your initials in the column beside. Items marked as ‘Taken” without initials will be changed back to ‘Available’.

3.    If you visit the Church, we have decorated a tree in Scott Hall. The tree is covered with gift tags listing an item which you can go and purchase. Once you’ve bought your selected item, bring your gift (with tag attached) and place it under the tree!

If you would like to learn more about Alpha House, you can visit their website https://alphahousecalgary.com/

We ask that all gifts be received by Friday December 18.  If you have any questions, please email Kelly (office@vapc.ca) or call the Church office.
